Congressional Academic Medicine Caucus

The Congressional Academic Medicine Caucus (CAMC) is an informal, bipartisan group of Members of Congress dedicated to maintaining and strengthening our nation’s reputation as having the world’s most advanced medical care. The CAMC strives to educate other Congressional Members on the unique health care, research, and training missions of teaching hospitals and medical schools. The CAMC is a Congressional Member Organization, which was approved by the U.S. House of Representatives' Committee on House Administration on October 7, 2009.

U.S. Representative Schwartz is serving her third term in Congress where she serves on the powerful Ways and Means Committee, which has jurisdiction over tax, trade, and revenue raising measures, as well as Medicare and Social Security. During her more than two decades as a health care legislator and executive, Congresswoman Schwartz gained extensive and diverse experience in health care policy. She is well-known for her advocacy of comprehensive insurance coverage, including preventive and cost-effective interventions. More specifically, she has supported initiatives to expand graduate medical education positions; establish scholarship and loan repayment opportunities for primary care providers who serve in areas with critical shortages; expand and strengthen health research; and improve quality, access, and affordability of primary care.
