Navigating the Osteopathic Recognition Application

Wednesday, August 17, 2016

PRESENTER:

  • Sarah James, DOAssociate Osteopathic Program Director, University of Wisconsin Department of Family Medicine and Community Health, Madison, Wisconsin

SUMMARY:
With the progression to a single GME accreditation system, a higher level of integration of osteopathic and allopathic physicians during residency is anticipated. Growth of osteopathic skills during residency is an important educational goal for osteopathic medical school graduates, and the opportunity to learn manual medicine techniques during residency is desirable for graduates of allopathic medical schools. The University of Wisconsin Department of Family Medicine and Community Health’s residency programs received dual accreditation in 2002 and Osteopathic Recognition in July 2015. The aim of this webinar will be a guide through the Osteopathic Recognition Application, focusing on some of the more challenging components. Participants will have the opportunity to discuss strategies they can use to strengthen osteopathic education within their programs.
