Translating Osteopathic Understanding into Community Health (TOUCH)

TOUCH logo

TOUCH stands for “Translating Osteopathic Understanding into Community Health.”

This is a program started by COSGP to encourage osteopathic medical student involvement in community service activities. TOUCH encourages us to observe a basic tenet of osteopathic philosophy: a commitment to improving the health of our communities through service.

Osteopathic medical students complete TOUCH approved events in the community and submit their hours to a national database. Recognition is given to students who achieve 50 hours, 100 hours, or the most hours on a campus in a given year.

Examples of TOUCH approved events include volunteer medical services, political advocacy, and global outreach.

Recognitions

  • Platinum: Each school has a top participant who receives the Platinum-level recognition.
  • Gold: Students who complete 100 hours over the year receive a Gold-level recognition
  • Silver: Students who complete 50 hours over the year receive a Silver-level recognition.
