Advice

  • Always be nice to nurses and office staff! They can make or break experiences and rotations for you and it is always helpful to have them on your side!
  • Learn the concurrent guidelines about screenings!
  • Review common bacterial and viral infections and their treatments.
  • Review typical medical disorders – anxiety/depression, chronic pain, COPD/asthma, diabetes, HTN, hypercholesterolemia, smoking cessation.
  • Review guidelines for common screening exams.
  • Look things up in journal articles through your school library! Learn about PICO and start basing information for presentations to your attendings and for learning about your patients’ conditions through EBM and not just textbooks!
