Poster Logistics

  • Posters will be arranged by topic area.
  • The top 5 peer-selected abstracts will be highlighted with a separate short presentation session on Friday afternoon. 
  • A “Best Research Poster” award will be presented during the AACOM Awards Banquet on Friday evening. This award will be based upon an additional rigorous peer-review process that will take place during poster presentations and will include a substantial monetary prize. 
  • At least one poster author is expected to attend the Annual Conference and pay applicable registration fee.
  • AACOM and AODME will not pay the expenses of poster presenters.
  • One of the authors, or a member of their organization, must be present at the poster during all scheduled presentation times to be available to discuss the poster with conference attendees.  Poster session hours will be available in January.
  • Also, please plan to present during the refreshment breaks so conference participants have further opportunities to view the posters.
  • All electronically submitted posters will be posted on the AACOM and AODME websites after the conference. 

Poster Creation​

The total size of your poster may not exceed 42” high by 42” wide.

Please keep your posters within this size limit to avoid encroaching on neighboring poster space. There will be two posters per side, per board. Handouts may be pinned at the bottom of the board.

Poster Material

  • The poster may be mounted on rigid material or un-mounted sheets that can be pinned directly to the poster board. 

Poster Essentials

  • The presentation title, the author(s) and institution affiliation(s) should be placed at the top of the poster. 
  • Do not write or paint on the poster board.​

Handouts

  • Accompanying handouts are highly encouraged. Handouts are the presenters' responsibility. Copying services are available at the hotel.

Design Tips

  • Remember that illustrations must be readable from distances of three feet or more.  
    • Your poster should be self-explanatory. The viewer should be able to follow the progression easily.
      • Try to keep everything as simple as possible.
      • Captions and labels should be brief and easily understood
      • The simple use of color can add emphasis effectively
    • Use a type for the body copy that is at least 1/4" high 
    • Use Bold Type for heads and subheads that is at least 3/4" high.
    • Include text and figure legends, but keep them short.
    • Charts, drawings, and illustrations should be similar to those you would use in making slides.
