AACOM Announces 2016 NAOME Fellows

AACOM has announced the 2016-2021 National Academy of Osteopathic Medical Educators (NAOME) Fellows. NAOME Fellows are inducted into the Academy each year to serve a five-year term. As Fellows, inductees function as leaders and mentors for academic scholarship and excellence within the osteopathic medical education community.

Here are this year’s inductees and their applied area of academic excellence:

  • Jennifer A. Fischer, PhD, Rowan University School of Osteopathic Medicine (Teaching and Evaluation)
  • Schoen W. Kruse, PhD, Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences College of Osteopathic Medicine (Teaching and Evaluation)
  • Sharon Obadia, DO, A.T. Still University-School of Osteopathic Medicine in Arizona (Teaching and Evaluation)
  • Leslie Wimsatt, PhD, Des Moines University College of Osteopathic Medicine (Educational Leadership)
  • Mark R. Speicher, PhD, Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine of Midwestern University (Education Research)

Three NAOME Fellows have successfully reapplied for an additional five-year fellowship. These Fellows are:

  • Evelyn Schwalenberg, DO, MS, Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine of Midwestern University (Educational Leadership)
  • John Graneto, DO, MEd, Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences College of Osteopathic Medicine (Teaching and Evaluation)
  • Craig A. Canby, PhD, Des Moines University College of Osteopathic Medicine (Teaching and Evaluation)

NAOME was established in 2009 as the first national health professions education academy. Its peer-selected membership makes up a community of outstanding educators from across the osteopathic medical education continuum.
