AACOM’s leadership and Board of Deans are pleased to welcome the new Joplin campus of the Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences College of Osteopathic Medicine (KCU-COM). The Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation (COCA) voted to allow KCU-COM to begin operations after reviewing a site visit report during the August 26-28, 2016, COCA meeting.

On June 6, 2017, leaders from KCU-COM joined partners and friends from the Joplin regional community to celebrate the realization of a long-awaited dream with a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the KCU Farber-McIntire campus, and the opening of the first new medical school in Missouri in nearly half a century.

“This is indeed an amazing day,” said Marc B. Hahn, DO, president and CEO of KCU. “Together, we have established an innovative and collaborative approach to medical education that will serve as a model for our country.”

KCU-COM now has two fully-accredited campuses in Missouri, including the new Joplin campus and the main Kansas City campus. KCU-COM Joplin is the 48th location for the 33 colleges of osteopathic medicine across 31 US states.
