He attended the Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine and later served as both a member and Chair of the college’s Board of Trustees. Dr. Richardson served as Dean of the New England College of Osteopathic Medicine from 1983 to 1985, and he played a crucial role in the integration of the New England College of Osteopathic Medicine and the University of New England by ensuring that the university maintained a steadfast commitment to primary care and the founders’ original intentions for the school. He remained at the college as a faculty member until 2008. In 1999, Dr. Richardson received the Pioneer of Osteopathic Medicine medal, one of the highest honors given by the college.
