The U.S. Department of Education’s National Advisory Committee on Institutional Quality and Integrity (NACIQI) recently granted the American Osteopathic Association’s Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation (COCA) the maximum five years of continuing recognition as the nation’s only accreditor for osteopathic medical schools.

The NACIQI advises the Secretary of Education on matters related to both accreditation and the eligibility and certification process for higher education institutions. In order for students to receive federal financial aid, their institutions must be accredited by a federally recognized body.
