On Saturday, March 31, during its 2012 Annual Meeting, Building Healthy Behaviors: Medical Education for Prevention and Change, AACOM will host a Health Professions Recruitment Fair featuring several free workshops led by renowned medical school admission directors. The event is open to all high school and college students, parents, pre-health advisors, school guidance counselors, administrators and others interested in learning more about health professions education opportunities and careers. Participants will learn:

  • How to apply to medical school or other health professions education programs
  • How to write a successful personal statement
  • What current medical students have to say about their experiences
  • Demonstrations on Osteopathic Manual Medicine (OMM)
  • Much more that will help in preparing for a career in the health professions

Six workshops will be presented in 45-minute sessions during two time slots, including:

  • Medical School Student Panel
  • Tips for a Successful Application: Avoiding Mistakes
  • High School and Beyond: The Medical School Journey
  • AACOMAS 2013 Application Workshop
  • The Practice of Medicine Through Virtual Reality
  • The Personal Statement Workshop
