On June 20, American Association of Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine (AACOM) President Dr. Stephen C. Shannon represented osteopathic medical education at a meeting of the Healthy People Curriculum Task Force (HPCTF) in Washington, DC. The meeting focused on the group’s objective of developing an interprofessional approach to medical education that incorporates an emphasis on prevention as part of the national Healthy People 2020 initiative.

The HPCTF was created by the Association for Prevention Teaching and Research (APTR) in 2002 to develop a unified and interprofessional approach to preventive medical education.  The Task Force includes representatives from eight medical education associations and is currently funded in part by the Josiah Macy, Jr. Foundation.
