The Osteopathic Research Center (ORC) is celebrating its 10th anniversary in 2012. In honor of the occasion, the ORC will be hosting an international, interprofessional conference entitled, “Using Manual and Conventional Therapies to Enhance Musculoskeletal Health,” April 27-29, 2012, in Fort Worth, TX. Josephine Briggs, MD, Director of the National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine, NIH, will serve as keynote speaker.
Developed originally to place a special focus on the mechanisms and clinical efficacy of osteopathic manipulative treatment (OMT), over the years the ORC has adapted its mission to also include policy and health services research. The ORC performs systematic literature reviews, conducts population-based surveys, and analyzes national health care databases to determine the unique practice characteristics of osteopathic physicians and to provide scientific evidence to support osteopathic medicine.
