UNECOM Appoints Acting Dean

Peter Dane, DO, has been named Acting Dean of the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine (UNECOM), effective October 2, 2012. He succeeds Marc B. Hahn, DO, who had served as UNECOM’s Dean and Senior Vice President for Health Affairs since 2010 and was recently appointed Executive Vice President for Academic and Medical Affairs, Provost and Dean at the Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences-College of Osteopathic Medicine. Dr. Dane joined UNECOM in 2010 as the college’s Associate Dean of Academic Affairs. Prior to his tenure at UNECOM, he served as Associate Dean for Predoctoral Education at the Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic medicine (OU-HCOM).

NYCOM/NYIT Names New Dean

After a national search that began earlier this year, Wolfgang Gilliar, DO, has been named Dean of the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine of The New York Institute of Technology (NYCOM/NYIT), effective January 1, 2013. Dr. Gilliar succeeds Vice President for Health Sciences and Medical Affairs and Acting Dean Barbara Ross-Lee, DO, who has served as NYCOM/NYIT Acting Dean since June 1, 2012. Dr. Gilliar will continue to serve in his role as Chair of the university’s Osteopathic Medicine Department.
