PCOM President and CEO Announces Upcoming Retirement
Matthew Schure, PhD, President and Chief Executive Officer at Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (PCOM), has formally announced his forthcoming retirement, effective June 30, 2014. Dr. Schure has served as a leader in the osteopathic medical community for many years. He is past chairman of the AACOM Board of Governors, as well as a past chairman of the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) Council on Pre-doctoral Education, and currently serves on the Pennsylvania Workforce Investment Board and the Board of the Association of Independent Colleges & Universities of Pennsylvania, the Life Science Career Alliance, and the City Avenue Special Services District. In appreciation for his more than three decades of service and leadership within the medical education community, AACOM extends its thanks and best wishes to Dr. Schure.
WesternU/COMP Interim Dean Takes Office
On January 1, 2013, Paula Crone, DO, officially began her tenure as Interim Dean at the Western University of Health Sciences/College of Osteopathic of the Pacific (WesternU/COMP). Dr. Crone succeeds Clinton E. Adams, DO, MPA, who had served as Dean for 8 years prior to stepping down in December 2012. Dr. Adams is currently on a six-month sabbatical and will be serving as AACOM Fellow in Health Care and Medical Education Leadership and Policy during that time.
