Since pledging their support to the White House Joining Forces initiative in 2012, AACOM and its member colleges have worked to uphold their promise to ensure that future physicians training in the nation’s osteopathic medical colleges are qualified to meet the unique clinical challenges associated with caring for military service members and veterans, and their families. All 30 of the nation’s osteopathic medical colleges have signed this pledge of support.
In recognition of Veterans Day 2013 (Monday, November 11), AACOM would like to invite its member colleges to participate in the second annual military medicine curricular initiative. Participating colleges will organize and host a military medicine educational session for their students during the week of November 11-15, and are encouraged to utilize the special two-hour curriculum AACOM has developed for this initiative. For more information on this effort, contact AACOM Chief of Clinical Education Tyler Cymet, DO (email@example.com) or AACOM Department of Medical Education Administrative Assistant Kate Hirsch (firstname.lastname@example.org).
AACOM is developing several other projects in accordance with its pledge of support to the Joining Forces initiative. Check the AACOM Joining Forces webpage regularly for updates.
