KCUMB Names New Provost and Dean of College of Osteopathic Medicine On September 24, the Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences (KCUMB) announced the appointment of Bruce Dubin, DO, JD, as Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs, Provost, and Dean of the College of Osteopathic Medicine, effective mid-November. Dr. Dubin will succeed Marc B. Hahn, DO, who assumed the role of KCUMB President and Chief Executive Officer July 1. Dr. Dubin most recently served as Dean and Chief Academic Officer at the Rocky Vista University College of Osteopathic Medicine (RVUCOM).
OSU Names Potential New President of Center for Health Sciences The Oklahoma State University (OSU) has announced that Kayse Shrum, DO, has been chose to assume the role of President of the Oklahoma State University (OSU) Center for Health Sciences in addition to her current role as Provost for the center. In this role, Dr. Shrum will succeed Howard Barnett, current President of OSU-Tulsa and the OSU Center for Health Sciences, who will resign from the role of OSU Center for Health Sciences President to assume his new role as Chief Executive Officer of the OSU Medical Authority (OSUMA). These leadership changes are pending approval of the Board of Regents for the Oklahoma Agricultural and Mechanical Colleges (OSU/A&M).
OU-HCOM Names Dean of New Northeast Ohio Campus On October 1, Isaac J. Kirstein, DO, joined the Ohio University-Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine (OU-HCOM) as Dean of its new Northeast Ohio campus (an affiliate institution of the Cleveland Clinic). Dr. Kirstein is a member of the Blue Ribbon Commission for the Advancement of Osteopathic Medical Education (BRC), a group organized by members of AACOM and the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) to develop an innovative model for physician education that is designed to address U.S. health care needs. Dr. Kirstein will lead college efforts on all aspects of constructing the new osteopathic medical education program, which will welcome its inaugural class in July 2015.
RVUCOM Names Interim Dean The Rocky Vista University College of Osteopathic Medicine has appointed Thomas Told, DO, as Interim Dean, effective October 7. Dr. Told will serve in this role while the college continues its nation-wide search for its new Dean.
Western U/COMP Announces New Dean On September 30, Paula Crone, DO, has assumed the role of Dean of the Western University of Health Sciences/College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific (Western U/COMP). Dr. Crone has served as Western U/COMP Interim Dean since January 1, 2013, after the departure of Clinton E. Adams, DO, MPA, who had served the college as Dean for eight years before stepping down in December 2012.
