For the eighth consecutive year, aspiring physicians have been applying to the nation’s colleges of osteopathic medicine (COMs) in record-breaking numbers. With roughly eight weeks left until applications close for the upcoming 2014-2015 academic year, more than 17,790 applicants have submitted a total of more than 157,000 applications (as of February 10). This figure represents a 9.2 percent increase over last year’s total applicant figure and a 13.2 percent increase over last year’s total applications figure at this time. The 2014 AACOMAS application cycle closes April 15, 2014.
Applications to All the nation’s colleges of osteopathic medicine, with the exception of the University of North Texas Health Science Center at Fort Worth/ Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine (UNTHSC/TCOM), are processed through the American Association of Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine Application Service (AACOMAS). Applications to UNTHSC/TCOM are processed through the Texas Medical and Dental Application Service and are therefore not represented in the figures outlined in this article.
