The Interprofessional Education Collaborative (IPEC) hosted its first Interprofessional Faculty Development Institute for Quality Improvement and Patient Safety of the year January 13-15 in Herndon, VA. IPEC Institutes are held to bring together faculty from across the health disciplines in order to work collaboratively to explore how to embed quality improvement and patient safety content into their curriculum using interprofessional education student learning experiences. The overall goal of each IPEC Institute is to create faculty champions to enhance interprofessional curricula and student learning experiences in quality improvement and patient safety at the point of care, through team-focused activities designing an institutional-based project.

The next IPEC Institute is planned for May 2014. More details on this event, including location, specific dates, and registration information, are to be announced.

IPEC comprises six organizations, including AACOM, the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP), the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC), the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN), the American Dental Education Association (ADEA), and the Association of Schools and Programs of Public Health (ASPPH).
