More than 520 osteopathic medical education administrators, faculty, and students, as well as representatives from across the medical education continuum, have registered to attend the AACOM 2014 Annual Conference this week in Washington, DC April 2-5. While advance registration has closed, it’s not too late to joint your colleagues by registering in person at the meeting.
This year’s conference theme, “Osteopathic Medical Education: Keys to Success,” has inspired an exciting and robust program designed to address contemporary issues and concepts seen throughout the osteopathic medical education continuum—from matriculation through practice readiness. General topics will include best practices in curricular development and innovative curricular models, faculty development, health and wellness, teaching and learning milestone assessment, and leveraging technology in medical education. Keynote speakers include:
- Paul Grundy, MD, MPH, IBM Global Director of Healthcare Transformation and President of the Patient-Centered Primary Care Collaborative
- Erica Frank, MD, MPH, Founder and President of NextGenU.org and Professor and Canada Research Chair in Preventive Medicine and Population Health at the University of British Columbia
- Gail Wilensky, PhD, Economist and Senior Fellow, Project HOPE

Additionally, AACOM will be hosting the 3rd Bi-Annual Health Professions Recruitment Fair and Workshops on Saturday, April 5 at the Capitol Hilton Hotel in conjunction with the conference. This event is free to attend and open to high school and college students, and their parents, pre-health advisors, high school counselors, school administrators, and others interested in learning more about osteopathic medical education.
The AACOM 2014 Annual Conference is the premier event for the nation's medical education community to connect and discuss current and future challenges and opportunities in osteopathic medical education. We hope to see you there!
