Primary Care Organizations Consortium Convenes for 2014 Fall Meeting 

The Primary Care Organizations Consortium (PCOC) met for its annual fall meeting on September 15, 2014, at the AACOM headquarters in Chevy Chase, MD. AACOM has hosted PCOC’s fall meetings for the past six years.

At the meeting, participants heard legislative updates from both Pamela Murphy, MSW, AACOM Vice President of Government Relations, and James D. Baumberger, MPP, Assistant Director of the Department of Federal Affairs at the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP). Other meeting agenda items included presentations on the current activities of both the Student Osteopathic Medical Association (SOMA), delivered by Katie Eggerman, SOMA Treasurer and osteopathic medical student at the Des Moines University College of Osteopathic Medicine (DMU-COM); the American Medical Student Association (AMSA), delivered by Britani Kessler, DO, AMSA 2014-2015 National President; and the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ), which was given by Robert McNellis, MPH, PA, AHRQ Senior Advisor for Primary Care. The group also held a luncheon discussion on the Institute of Medicine’s (IOM) recently released report, “Graduate Medical Education That Meets the Nation's Health Needs.”

After lunch, organizational updates and discussions were led by representatives each of the PCOC member organizations. PCOC member organizations include:

PCOC’s next meeting will be held in spring 2015 at the AAMC offices in Washington, DC. A date for that meeting has not yet been announced.
