KCU-COM Dean Resigns, Interim Dean Appointed
Effective June 1, 2016, Bruce Dubin, DO, resigned from his position as Executive Vice President of Academic Affairs, Provost, and Dean of the KCU College of Osteopathic Medicine (KCU-COM) due to personal issues related to his health. In his three years with KCU, Dr. Dubin made significant contributions to the University, including creating a new curriculum for the COM, enhancing student achievement, and leading the accreditation process towards establishing the Joplin campus.
Prior to his leadership at KCU-COM, Dr. Dubin served as Dean and Chief Academic Officer at Rocky Vista University College of Osteopathic Medicine (RVUCOM), as well as Associate Dean of Academic Affairs at the University of North Texas Health Science Center at Fort Worth/Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine (UNTHSC/TCOM). He is also the 2014 recipient of AACOM’s Dale Dodson Award, and former member of the AACOM Board of Deans Executive Committee.
Dr. Dubin will assist the University from time to time as he transitions, with a specific focus related to curriculum, teaching, and the accreditation process. KCU is pursuing a national search to find a successor for Dr. Dubin. In the meantime, G. Michael Johnston, DO, Vice Dean for KCU-COM, will serve as Interim Dean.
