SIG Mission Statement:

To promote understanding and use of advanced curricular designs and educational technologies across the osteopathic profession

Within the above mission, what specific objectives can best be accomplished by collaborative efforts:

  1. Each osteopathic school to develop, refine and evaluate one problem-specific module per year.
  2. To create over the next 5 – 7 years 100 – 150 problem specific modules
  3. To gather data regarding the educational utility of these problem-specific modules.
  4. To construct manuscripts describing the educational outcomes associated with these modules.
  5. To garnish international recognition for the osteopathic profession by demonstrating the unique strengths and advantages of a Problem- Specific/ Structured Knowledge Curriculum predicated upon the use of 100 – 150 problem-specific modules
  6. To demonstrate improved patient care outcomes stemming from PS/SKC and its associated educational technologies

Specific Goals to be Accomplished:

  1. Funding sufficient to launch and sustain a five year national initiative involving the development and initial pilot testing of 5 – 10 problem-specific modules across participating schools.

Initial action steps to be taken:

  1. Request for interested individuals to indicate their support for this collaborative via their active participation in the initiative.
  2. Request for interested individuals to indicate their support for the project via communications with AACOM
  3. AACOM to aggressively seek funding support to launch this initiative
