SIG Mission Statement:

To support osteopathic medical education programs in the development and implementation of quality improvement activities that serve as a foundation for student outcomes assessment, program evaluation, internal and external reporting requirements, and perhaps, most importantly, support our collective interest in improving medical education.

Within the above mission, what specific objectives can best be accomplished by collaborative efforts:

  • Sharing information on quality improvement in medical education
  • Sharing information related to integrated QI programs that support program evaluation, outcomes assessment, accreditation requirements, and various other internal and external reporting needs.
  • Sharing Quality Improvement resources, programs and plans.
  • Identifying content experts within AACOM who are willing to share their expertise with others.

Specific Goals to be Accomplished:

  • Identify individuals interested in contributing to the work of the SIG on Quality Improvement in Osteopathic Medical Education
  • Identify the educational needs for those interested in QI
  • Identify QI experts within the AACOM network of members
  • Develop a presentation related to QI in osteopathic medical education programs

Initial Action Steps to be taken:

  • Establish a listserv of interested individuals
  • Develop an agenda of activities for discussion at the June 2005 Annual Meeting of the AACOM
