DOCARE International is a medical outreach organization dedicated to providing much-needed health care to indigent and isolated people in remote areas around the world. In 2010, DOCARE is celebrating 50 years of service and medical outreach in under-developed regions. DOCARE has provided its services mostly to Mexico, Guatemala and other countries in Central America, and has also had short-term missions to South America, Africa, Asia and the Middle East.

In recognition of its 50th anniversary, DOCARE founded a year-round continuity clinic in San Andreas Itzapa, Guatemala. This joint venture with ASSADE establishes a medical presence with a full-time physician and nurse in the community. Rotation opportunities for fourth-year osteopathic medical students are available at the DOCARE Osteopathic Medical Center in San Andreas Itzapa.

OIA Mission
The Osteopathic International Alliance advances the philosophy and practice of osteopathic medicine and osteopathy worldwide.
The goals of the Osteopathic International Alliance are to:
- Collect and disseminate accurate and targeted information about the state of the osteopathic profession worldwide
- Promote excellence in osteopathic education, research and health care delivery
- Conduct consultative partnerships with international associates and organizations to advocate for the osteopathic profession
- Sponsor and deliver educational forums
- Participate in jointly sponsored research and health care related activities

The Bureau on International Osteopathic Medical Education and Affairs (BIOMEA) is a Council of the American Osteopathic Association formed in 1998. BIOMEA interacts directly with the AOA Board of Trustees to advise on issues related to global health and to help direct the activity of the AOA in the international arena.
