AACOM Reports on Student Enrollment

Preliminary Enrollment

These reports are released every fall with enrollment data provided by the nation's colleges of osteopathic medicine (COMs). Early enrollment information is obtained via a survey sent to each school's registrar. More complete enrollment statistics, drawn from the Annual Osteopathic Medical School Questionnaire, are reported later in the year.

Enrollment by State of Legal Residence

AACOM collects data in the Annual Osteopathic Medical School Questionnaire about the students enrolled in each COM—including state of legal residence. The following reports contain charts and figures with this information to gain insight about how osteopathic medical students are distributed across the states and COMs.

First-Year Enrollment by Gender and Race/Ethnicity

AACOM collects data in the Annual Osteopathic Medical School Questionnaire about the first-year students enrolled in each college of osteopathic medicine (COM)—including their gender and race/ethnicity. The following reports show how first-year students have developed in terms of demographics.

Total Enrollment by Gender and Race/Ethnicity

AACOM collects data in the Annual Osteopathic Medical School Questionnaire about all of the students enrolled in each college of osteopathic medicine (COM)—including their gender and race/ethnicity. The following reports show how the student body has developed in terms of demographics.

Enrollment Growth

Data about applicants, enrollment, and graduates are compiled for these longitudinal reports to show the development of people who apply to, enroll in, and graduate from the nation’s colleges of osteopathic medicine (COMs). As new COMs are accredited and gain students, the numbers of applicants, enrollment, and graduates continue to surge.
