DMU-COM Names New Dean
J.D. Polk, DO, MS, MMM, has recently been appointed to serve as Dean of Des Moines University College of Osteopathic Medicine (DMU-COM), effective August 1. Dr. Polk will succeed David A. Plundo, DO, DMU-COM Acting Dean and Associate Dean for Medical Education & External Affairs. Dr. Plundo has functioned as DMU-COM’s Acting Dean since July 2012. In addition to his diverse background in administration and medicine, Dr. Polk will bring to this position a wealth of experience in accreditation and medical education evaluation from his role with the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation (COCA). Currently, Dr. Polk serves as the Acting Assisting Secretary for Health Affairs and Chief Medical Officer for the United States Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
KCUMB Announces New President and CEO
Effective July 1, Marc B. Hahn, DO, Executive Vice President, Academic and Medical Affairs; Provost and Dean at the Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences College of Osteopathic Medicine (KCUMB-COM), will take on the role of KCUMB's 14th President and Chief Executive Officer. Dr. Hahn, who also Chairs AACOM’s Board of Deans, will succeed Marshall D. Walker, DO. Dr. Walker has served as Interim President and Chief Executive Officer at KCUMB since December 2012, and was recently named by KCUMB's Board of Trustees as the college's 13th President and CEO.
