The nation’s osteopathic medical college deans have begun selecting the four to six individuals who will comprise their teams participating in COM Day on Capitol Hill. AACOM will be coordinating meetings for participating COMs with federal legislators and their staffs to discuss key issues in osteopathic medical education. The event is being held in conjunction with AACOM’s Annual Meeting.
On Wednesday, April 15, the teams will receive an early morning briefing on the issues prior to their Capitol Hill meetings. Issues that are expected to be addressed are the importance of osteopathic medical education to the nation’s health care system, graduate medical education (GME), Title VII reauthorization and funding, medical student debt and local issues specific to each participating college.
For those team members whose travel plans permit, AACOM will be sponsoring a dinner on Tuesday, April 14, at 6:30 pm, to begin discussing the issues with a congressional staff member.
