Dear Editor,
Thank you, Dr. Shannon, for conveying the sympathy of the osteopathic family to the victims of the tornado in Kirksville, MO in the last issue of Inside OME. The storm impacted the lives of many osteopathic students attending ATSU-Kirksville, and this was a cause of concern for osteopathic students everywhere. The Council of Osteopathic Student Government Presidents (COSGP) and the Student Osteopathic Medical Association (SOMA) teamed up to raise money to be donated to the ATSU Emergency Assistance Fund to help those students recover. Over several weeks, generous donations from students, colleges of osteopathic medicine and national student organizations were collected, and COSGP was able to send a check of $2,630.00 to assist those students in need. We hope that they continue to recover and that the osteopathic community continues to support them throughout that process.
Sincerely,
Jessica Hilst, OMS IV
