Karen J. Nichols, DO, MA, Dean and Professor of Internal Medicine at Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine of Midwestern University (CCOM) was named President-Elect of the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) at the organization’s summer business meeting in July.
Dr. Nichols will be the first female to serve as AOA President; in medical school, she was one of only eight females in her graduating class at Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences College of Osteopathic Medicine (KCUMB-COM). Dr. Nichols has been a member of AOA since 1981 and has served on the Board of Trustees since 1999. As CCOM Dean, Dr. Nichols also is an active member of the AACOM Board of Deans.
