
Members of the Primary Care Organizations’ Consortium (PCOC) met at AACOM on September 25, welcomed by Steering Committee Co-Chair Burt Routman, DO, representative of the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians (ACOFP) and faculty member at Lincoln Memorial University-Debusk College of Osteopathic Medicine (LMU-DCOM). Dr. Routman introduced Co-Chair Jack Pascoe, MD, MPH, representative of the Academic Pediatric Association, who provided a presentation on patient-centered medical homes.
PCOC members discussed possible collaborations among their organizations and received legislative updates from a number of organizations, including AACOM, the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) and the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP). Sanjeev Sriram, MD, representative of the National Physician’s Alliance (NPA), spoke to the group about the NPA’s mission and views. Health Resources and Services Administration representatives Brenda Williamson, Chief, Primary Care Medical Education, DMD, HRSA BHPR; Daniel Mareck, MD, Director, Division of Medicine & Dentistry (DMD), HRSA BHPR; Anthony Anyanwu, Program Officer; and Anne Patterson, Program Officer, were among those participating in the meeting. The meeting included a celebration of PCOC's 25th anniversary.
AACOM staff who attended the meeting included President Stephen C. Shannon, DO, MPH, and Osteopathic Health Policy Intern Ben Rebein, OMS IV, Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences College of Osteopathic Medicine.
