Macy Foundation Holds Primary Care Conference

The Josiah Macy, Jr. Foundation hosted its 2010 Conference on Primary Care January 8 – 11, in Durham, North Carolina, to provide a forum for participants to address the nation’s primary care workforce shortage and rising health care costs. The following AACOM Board of Deans members were in attendance: Marc B. Hahn, DO, Senior Vice President for Health Affairs and Dean, University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine; Kenneth J. Veit, DO, MBA, Dean and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs, Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine; and AACOM President and CEO Stephen C. Shannon, DO, MPH. As a result of the conference, the Macy Foundation has compiled and will soon release an official set of conclusions and recommendations for how to address these critical issues.
