Yesterday, the AOGME Board met and approved new strategic objectives for the 2019-2020 membership year. The strategic goals approved last year were reaffirmed and new objectives were added to support these goals. The strategic goals and new objectives for 2019-2020 include the following:

Goal One: Provide resources to assist GME programs to achieve/maintain continued accreditation

  • Develop short educational videos for GME faculty development
  • Provide support for program coordinators
  • Support mock site visits

Goal Two: Provide leadership and professional development opportunities

  • Continue to support the leadership development programs focused on GME, such as the GME-LDP
  • Prepare resources for trainees interested in academic careers

Goal Three: Promote the value of the osteopathic learning environment

  • Increase AOGME’s visibility external partnerships on events and programs
  • Align efforts with organizations that are also working on supporting Osteopathic Recognition
  • Develop resources specifically for Directors of Osteopathic Education (DOEs)

Goal Four: Support a learning community of osteopathic medical educators to advance excellence and innovation throughout the osteopathic learning environment

  • Support better alignment in the UME and GME learning environment and explore validated evaluations, curriculum for linking UME and GME, hand-off between UME and residency programs, EPAs and milestones, and more.

We thank members who have stepped up to lead several aspects of this work already. We encourage you to participate in any of these initiatives. If interested, please reach out to us at aogme@aacom.org or fill out the brief member engagement questionnaire.
