Join us at 2018 Educating Leaders, AACOM Conference!

March 28, 2018

Joanne BakerThis month, AOGME jointly held the ACGME/AODME (now AOGME) pre-conference workshop for osteopathic programs and institutions and celebrated the launch of AOGME, see the re-cap video. We are now gearing up for the Educating Leaders 2018, the AACOM Conference, April 17-21, which will include several AOGME member events including the General Membership Meeting and Luncheon on Wednesday, April 18. View the schedule at a glance for an overview of AOGME events.  If you have not registered for the 2018 Annual Conference yet, please do so now, advance registration ends this Friday.

This year, with the leadership of Juan Acosta, DO (Co-Chair of the AACOM Conference Planning Committee and Chair of the AOGME Education Program Planning Committee) and members of the Education and Program Planning Committee, several GME sessions of interest will take place. We are also thrilled to induct 9 new fellows to the Collegium. Please join us to celebrate your colleagues in this important milestone during the AOGME Awards and Collegium of Fellows Ceremony on April 19 at 6:30 PM.

Thank you for your nominations for the AOGME residents and fellows advisory group that will help launch a council within AOGME. The 9-member advisory group launched earlier this month, we are looking forward to engaging the group over the next few months to determine how to best meet the needs of our trainees and build a pipeline for leadership in osteopathic medical education.

The transition of AODME within AACOM continues to move smoothly. In this period of change, AOGME and AACOM are investing and prioritizing member-interests and needs. Our goal is to provide leadership, resources and services to better support our members as you navigate changes in the profession. As such, we engaged a research firm, McKinley Advisors, to help us better assess member and key stakeholder perceptions, challenges and needs. McKinley will soon invite you to participate in a short survey, please take a few moments to share your thoughts, we greatly value your feedback and know your time is valuable.

We appreciate you for your continued support and dedication to AOGME. Please feel free to reach out at any time with any inquires or concerns by emailing aogme@aacom.org or by calling AOGME at 301-657-7881.

All my best,
Joanne Baker DO, FACOI, FAODME, FHM, FACP
