On July 1 of this year, we will officially mark three years in the transition process of AOA programs to ACGME under the single GME accreditation system. We have all worked hard in this period and the work is paying off, as majority of our programs are now either in the application process or already ACGME accredited. We have undergone significant change as a profession in this time. We are closely examining the challenges and opportunities that are present now and into the future and are working to develop mechanisms to support our members.
We thank all who have renewed their 2018-2019 AOGME membership. Please take a moment to renew your membership today.
We continue to examine additional offerings and services to meet the evolving needs of our members. As such, in coming weeks, we will disseminate a survey to all our members to help launch a leadership development program for GME professionals. Please look out for this survey. We value and look forward to your feedback.
We continue to provide our members with timely and relevant educational programming. In early May, we hosted a webinar on the ACGME Clinical Learning Environment Review featuring Nicole Qualls, Director of Graduate Medical Education at the Ohio Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine (OU-HCOM).
In addition, given the clear need for scholarly activity resources and tools during this transition, we held a webinar on May 23 featuring Mark Speicher, PhD, AACOM Senior Vice President for Medical Education and Research, on developing a research question and conducting a literature search. Part II of this series on research and scholarly activity will examine quantitative methods. Please reach out to us directly if we can assist in providing a mentor or advice on your research project or publication at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Be sure to tune into our recent webinar recordings and live presentations:
- June 6, Developing a Wellness Curriculum for trainees, featuring Dr. Margaret Wilkins, Director of Faculty Development, Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (PCOM) MedNet
- July 11, Musculoskeletal Health Disparities, featuring Dr. Tamara Huff, St. Francis Orthopaedic Institute
- August 8, Integrating Research into Osteopathic Clinical Practice, featuring Dr. Kimberly Wolf, Director of Pediatric OMM/Assistant Professor of OMM, Touro University College of Osteopathic Medicine - California (TUCOM-CA)
