  • First, I made sure to do well in class. Starting 2nd year I studied First Aid and did a lot of board questions. I started in August with 10 questions per day and then 20 per day starting in January, planning to increase it every month by 10 each day, with May having 200 daily.
  • I am studying for the USMLE and adding OMM to my study plan as the exams cover similar general medical education courses. I have been annotating in my First Aid for the USMLE since 2nd semester OMS1. I try to keep information fresh by using Firecracker during these two years of strict bookwork. I began using UWorld summer between OMS1 and OMS2. Other resources I often use are UpToDate, NIH, MayoClinic.
  • I recommend using Firecracker, First Aid, Pathoma, USMLE Step 1 Secrets, and question banks from Day 1 of school to help in all courses. If I went back this is what I would have done from the beginning. I wouldn’t have to work so hard right to prepare for boards now if I had done this.
