2015 Student Researcher of the Year

The Council of Osteopathic Student Government Presidents is honored to announce Jacob John Triplet as the 2015 National Student Researcher of the Year!

Over 40 highly qualified applicants were submitted, the selection committee unanimously chose Jacob Triplet of Nova Southeastern University College of Osteopathic Medicine to receive this award. Between his second and third year of medical school, he was granted a one year fellowship opportunity to get involved in research.

During the academic year of 2013-2014, he chose to work at the Holy Cross Orthopaedic Research Institute with the Shoulder and Elbow team, under the guidance of Jonathan Levy MD and Isa Fernandez PhD.  With this experience, Jacob was able to excel in his research endeavors and currently has five first author publications, and an additional two as co-author – all in high impact journals, including the Journal of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery (JSES). 

Jacob has gone on to present his research at many prestigious conferences, including the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons Annual Meeting, the American Osteopathic Academy of Orthopedics Annual Meeting, and the Florida Orthopedic Society Annual Research Meeting.  From this, he has received numerous accolades for his efforts and success. 

On a more personal note, Jacob is from Buffalo, NY.  Currently, he is a third year medical student at NSUCOM in Fort Lauderdale, FL. In his free time he enjoys skiing, playing recreational sports and spending time with his wife and two dogs. He hopes to pursue a career in Orthopaedic Surgery.
