“I am very honored and proud to be an osteopathic medical student at VCOM-VC.   Being a nontraditional student with degrees in government and Spanish, I decided to pursue medicine after falling in love with patient care during my experiences as a firefighter and emergency medical technician.  VCOM and the osteopathic medical community are more accepting and open to those with non-science backgrounds, and provide education and training that is not directed just at preventing and treating diseases, but also at improving the physical, mental, and spiritual wellbeing of our communities.  My goal is to help create national public health policy that reflects the osteopathic medical tenets, advances biomedical research, and improves access to health care.”
