“Prior to medical school, I worked as a clinical research coordinator. The findings of the research study demonstrated the interrelation between structure and function, and the body’s natural ability to heal itself. This experience encouraged my dream of becoming an osteopathic physician. VCOM has been paramount in helping me see how the pillars of osteopathic medicine hold true. VCOM has taught me how to work in partnership with patients, addressing the body as a unit, promoting health education, and encouraging preventive measures. VCOM is also at the forefront of a movement to improve health care disparities in underserved communities. One person can prompt change, but it takes a collection of individuals with the same vision to make a difference, and VCOM is making that difference. Given the environment and the quality of education provided at VCOM, I am confident that all VCOM students will flourish as future physicians and make a difference in the world!”
