“As a lifelong ballet dancer, I was looking for a medical profession that valued the body’s ability to self-heal and the inseparable relationship between structure and function.  Being able to treat back pain or sinus congestion by returning the body to natural alignment is such a powerful tool to have—in my hands! I was also looking for a place that exhibited a profound respect for patients as individuals whose experiences, cultures and psychosocial environments influenced their experience of disease and healing. Osteopathic medicine is just that. I chose OU-HCOM because of its focus on evidence-based medical practice with a patient-centered approach. As a first-year student, I am impressed every day by the students around me, and I am thrilled to have so many community and clinical learning experiences with a network of knowledgeable, supportive faculty.  I already know that the lessons I learn here will make me a problem-solving researcher and compassionate physician.”
