Oklahoma State University – College of Osteopathic Medicine

Henry Jake Whitener

Undergraduate Studies: BS in Cellular Biology; minor in Chemistry, Northeastern State University
“The unique background of being from a small rural town in Northeastern Oklahoma and my Native American heritage is what drew me to Osteopathic medicine. In my culture, health has never been attributable to just medicine, which correlates with the osteopathic principle of treating the whole person. So, I immediately knew it was a perfect fit for me. As a physician, one inevitably becomes a leader. That’s why I love OSU-COM. Aside from excellent medical education and training, OSU-COM provides students with numerous opportunities to serve in leadership roles. I’ve always felt an obligation to serve those who have supported me, and I feel a responsibility to go back and help shape better and healthier communities. With the exceptional combination of medical and leadership skills obtained here at OSU-COM, I have full confidence that my colleagues and I will be able to step into any situation and truly make a difference.”
