“At the heart of all medicine is a focus on providing effective, accessible health care, but osteopathic medicine places greater emphasis on the natural healing of the body and establishing a physician-patient relationship.  Being a student at VCOM has afforded me the opportunity to learn how to develop this relationship, which will be beneficial to me as a physician.  I chose VCOM not only for its academic curriculum, but because at VCOM, I feel like part of a family. Through academic studies, shadowing osteopathic physicians and personal medical experiences, I know that there is no better fit for me than to practice as a DO.  As an osteopathic physician, I will strive to use medicine as a tool not only to help others, but also to practice cultural competency and understanding to ensure that all individuals receive the universal gift that every individual deserves – namely, health and well-being.”
