COSGP National Chair
New York Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine
To Present and Future Colleagues,
I assume the practice of medicine is going similar evolutions as learning the practice of medicine is. Students are part of the evolution and the profession of the future. I want to introduce myself as the 2017-2018 representative of osteopathic medical students, National Chair of the Council of Osteopathic Student Government Presidents (COSGP), to the profession at large.
My name is Dan Krajcik and I am third year student at the Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine (OU-HCOM). I am a proud, born-and-raised Cleveland native. I am currently completing my clinical rotations at the osteopathic hospital I was born in, here in Cleveland!
I couldn’t be more excited to serve the osteopathic student body as 2017-2018 National Chair. Thanks to the generosity of my Dean, Ken Johnson, DO, I have been involved with COSGP for three years and have grown tremendously as a result. It inspired me to obtain an Master of Business Administration with special interests in strategic leadership and organizational behavior during medical school.
I believe that one of COSGP’s most strategic values lies in its ability to train and inspire the leaders of today and tomorrow. I hope to increase leadership training throughout the year, so student leaders have the stronger leadership knowledge, skills, and training to best lead their student bodies. Concurrently, I believe that the more we can do to support and train these young leaders, the better our profession will be in the long run. Having a pipeline of leaders prepared to lead the osteopathic profession in 10, 20, or 50 years will enhance our long-term success for the betterment of our profession and all of healthcare in America.
I plan to continue and grow the mental health advocacy efforts that were started in our council two years ago. The entire profession warmly embraced the idea, showing the true colors of our osteopathic family. I believe that the work we do together in this field can set our graduates up to not just be well-trained physicians, but well-grounded ones too, who are ready for a healthcare system that is volatile and changing almost daily.
I look forward to working with all of you in the year to come. Please never hesitate to reach out to me and I know that together, we can make a lasting impact on our profession.
