September 05, 2017

Luke PortraitAfter five years serving as AACOM’s Vice President and Chair of Medical Education—and 25 years in osteopathic medical education—Luke Mortensen, PhD, is stepping down from the position. He will continue to participate at AACOM in a consultant capacity on several ongoing AACOM projects including council work, initiatives in faculty development and interprofessional education, the national Project in Osteopathic Medical Education and Empathy (POME2), Annual Conference planning, and others. AACOM will truly miss his insightful input and presence around the office.

He had this to say about his time at AACOM:

The opportunities I have had to work and engage with the many talented and dedicated students, faculty, and administration at each of our member colleges have been extraordinary and humbling. Over the last several years, it has been an honor to be of service to you as we tackled together some truly significant initiatives toward building best practices and advancing osteopathic medical education. I am forever grateful to you for those experiences.

A nationwide search will be held to find a candidate for the position.
