On May 2, 2018, Karen J. Nichols, DO, MA, MACOI, CS, announced that she has chosen to step down as Dean of the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine at Midwestern University (CCOM) at the end of the academic year.
Dr. Nichols has served at CCOM as Dean since 2002. Prior to coming to MWU, she was in the private practice of Internal Medicine and Geriatrics for 17 years in Mesa, Arizona, also serving as Assistant Dean of Post-Doctoral Education at the Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine. She served as the first female president of the AOA.
Dr. Nichols is currently on AACOM’s Task Force on Clinical Training & the Continuum of Osteopathic Medical Education. She graduated from Kansas City University College of Osteopathic Medicine (KCU-COM).
