NRMP Webinar: Role of Osteopathic Medical School Officials
On June 11, 2019, the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP) held a webinar designed to help NRMP osteopathic medical school officials better understand NRMP policies related to osteopathic senior students and how to perform school-based functions in the Registration, Ranking, and Results (R3) system. The webinar recording will be available on the NRMP's website at

ACGME Announces Back to Bedside Recipients
The ACGME recently announced the recipients for the second round of funding for Back to Bedside. This is an initiative led my residents and fellows to create innovative strategies for increasing time with patients and improving physician and patient well-being. See the list of recipients.
ACGME Request for Applications: Pursuing Excellence Pathway Leaders Patient Safety Collaborative
The ACGME is seeking up to 15 ACGME-accredited Sponsoring Institutions to participate in the 18-month Pathway Leaders Patient Safety Collaborative. This collaborative will focus on advancing residents' and fellow physicians' engagement in patient safety. Applications are due July 10, 2019. Learn more.
ACGME Osteopathic Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine Review Committee Update
The Review Committee has updated the Osteopathic Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine FAQs document. The Committee added new FAQs or updated existing FAQs on the topics of academic medicine, elective rotations, and supervision of patient encounters by an AOBNMM-board-eligible physician. Learn more.
ACGME Osteopathic Principles Committee Update
The Osteopathic Principles Committee (OPC) has updated the Osteopathic Recognition FAQs document. The Committee added new FAQs or updated existing FAQs on faculty development, learning environment elements, osteopathic neuromusculoskeletal medicine programs, and scholarly learning environment - elements and resources and waiver from the minimum required designated osteopathic residents. ACGME Common Program Requirement Changes
Programs will begin seeing changes in the ACGME's Accreditation Data System (ADS) data collection screens reflecting the new Common Program Requirements that go into effect July 1, 2019. Changes include addition of new and removal of outdated data fields. Programs that are currently applying for accreditation or recognition are strongly encouraged to submit their applications prior to the 2019-2020 academic year (June 24, 2019). Applications submitted after June 24, 2019 will be required to complete the newly added data fields, confirm all residents, and re-enter other data collected by academic year.

Status of Applications to the ACGME
Table 1 provides a brief snapshot of the status of ACGME applications through the single accreditation system as of June 12, 2019. The data are pulled from the ACGME Accreditation Data System (ADS) public site. These data only capture applications of programs and institutions through the single accreditation system process and do not include programs that may have been previously ACGME accredited, such as dually-accredited programs.

AOGME Osteopathic Recognition Initiatives and Resources
AACOM offers a range of resources and is engaged in several initiatives through the Assembly of Osteopathic Graduate Medical Educators (AOGME) to help advance Osteopathic Recognition. Submit a Proposal for the Osteopathic Recognition Curriculum Project
The AOGME is inviting proposals to develop a national curriculum that will assist GME programs in obtaining and maintaining Osteopathic Recognition. The goal of this initiative is to provide online support for programs with Osteopathic Recognition through an online curriculum that can help programs achieve and maintain this designation. Proposals are accepted until July 1, 2019. Read more and submit a proposal today.
Assembly of Osteopathic Graduate Medical Educators (AOGME) Webinar Series
Building a Culture of Well-Being
On Wednesday, June 19 at 4:00 PM ET, AOGME will host a webinar featuring Laurie Hommema, MD. This webinar will discuss the differences between personal and system drivers of physician burnout, and mitigation techniques for both. The webinar will help programs and institutions build a culture of well-being while approaching well-being from a systematic standpoint. Register for the webinar.
Clinical Competency Committee: ACGME Standards and a Case Study of University Residency Programs
On May 29, 2019 at 4:00 PM ET, Joanne Baker, DO, reviewed the Accreditation Council on Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) standards for the Clinical Competency Committee (CCC). This presentation included a case review of the CCC's at the nine residency programs at Western Michigan University (WMU) Homer Stryker MD School of Medicine over the last six years. The New ACGME Common Program Requirements
On June 12, 2019 at 4:00 PM ET, Lorenzo Pence, DO, will provide an overview of the changes to the ACGME Common Program Requirements that become effective July 1, 2019.
