AACOM spoke with president of Oklahoma State University Kayse Shrum, DO, about her considerable accomplishments as a leader, her advice and words of wisdom to others, especially women, who are interested in leadership and her thoughts about the importance of supporting, recruiting and retaining women in medicine.

Women represented 51.8 percent of matriculants during the 2020 application cycle, which opened in May 2019 and closed in April 2020, with deadlines varying by college of osteopathic medicine. This number reflects an all-time high, up from 50.0 percent during the previous cycle.

AACOM partnered with the Health Resources & Services Administration’s National Health Service Corps (NHSC) to provide a webinar providing information on how to apply and qualify for the 2022 Students to Service Loan Repayment Program (S2S LRP). The S2S LRP offers loan repayment assistance to medical students in their final year of school in return for service in a community of need. The deadline to apply is November 4, 2021.
