Osteopathic Medical Education

The National Board of Osteopathic Medical Examiners (NBOME)'s Special Commission has released a series of 10 draft recommendations centered on four themes: long-term solutions to assess clinical skills competencies for osteopathic medicine in the COMLEX-USA program for the Class of 2024 and beyond; diversity, equity and inclusion in assessment; emerging competencies and test content in COMLEX-USA; and technology and test-delivery advances. The NBOME is seeking public commentary on these recommendations through May 4, 2022.

Professional Development

AACOM is currently accepting applications for the (OHPF) and the (SLDP). When you apply to one of our programs, you'll join a cohort of like-minded and ambitious individuals ready to catapult their career prospects. Apply for the OHPF by May 15, 2022 and the SLDP by May 6, 2022.

AACOM Webinars

AACOM recently hosted an exclusive webinar with the the Health Resources & Services Administration (HRSA) about their National Health Service Corps (NHSC) Scholarship Program. Financial support is provided for up to four years of medical school. In return, scholars commit to provide primary care health services in health professional shortage areas. Applications are due May 5, 2022.

Diversity

National Minority Health Month, hosted by the National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities, is a time to raise awareness about health disparities that continue to affect people from racial and ethnic minority groups and encourage action through health education, early detection and control of disease complications. This year's theme is "Give Your Community a Boost!"

Scholarship Opportunity

The Academy for Professionalism in Health Care (APHC) is hosting its tenth annual conference in Philadelphia from June 1-3, 2022. The APHC welcomes all professionals and trainees devoted to the study and advancement of professionalism in health-related fields. The upcoming conference will focus on how healthcare is adapting its practice, teaching, assessment and research of professionalism based on local, national and global healthcare changes.

Scholarship Opportunity

The Macy Faculty Scholars Program is designed to identify and nurture the careers of promising educators and future leaders in medicine and nursing. Macy Faculty Scholars receive up to $200,000 of salary support over two years to implement an educational scholarly project in their home institutions. The deadline for applications is August 1, 2022. Additionally, an informational webinar for applicants will be held on June 1, 2022.
