Educating Leaders 2022

A pioneer in medicine and leadership, Freda Lewis-Hall, MD, DFAPA, MFPM, has been on the frontlines of healthcare for more than 40 years as a clinician, researcher and leader in the biopharmaceuticals and life sciences industries.

Advancing their shared goal of growing graduate medical education (GME), AACOM’s Assembly of Osteopathic Graduate Medical Educators (AOGME) and the Alliance of Independent Academic Medical Centers hosted a half-day virtual conference on January 18 to explore methods to successfully expand GME.

AACOM spoke with osteopathic medical school deans and students about AACOM Advocacy Day and why everyone in the osteopathic medical education community should become a strong voice for the profession.

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) issued a final rule establishing policies to distribute 1,000 new residency positions, the largest increase in more than 25 years. Thanks to direct outreach to CMS by AACOM and more than a dozen colleges of osteopathic medicine, osteopathic GME professionals, residents and students, key osteopathic priorities are included in the final CMS rule.

The National Academy of Medicine Action Collaborative on Clinician Well-Being and Resilience offers this collection of resources that highlight strategies and tools healthcare leaders and professionals can use across practice settings to take action toward decreasing burnout and improving clinician well-being.
