AACOM Programs & Initiatives

AACOM, AAMC and ACGME are launching an initiative to create a common set of foundational competencies for use in undergraduate medical education programs in the United States. The first two discussion forums will take place on August 17 and 23, and future sessions will be scheduled later in 2022.

Advocacy

AACOM thanks the members of Congress who sent a letter urging NIH to increase access to research funding at colleges of osteopathic medicine to end an historic funding disparity and unlock the unique potential of osteopathic physicians and researchers to make lasting contributions to our nation’s medical research.

Awards & Leadership

AACOM congratulates the 2022 grantees of its annual Research Grant Program. This program supports research in osteopathic medical education by providing topic-specific medical education and institutional study grants to qualified applicants from colleges of osteopathic medicine.

Professional Development

This year's cohort has 20 members and four mentors across the categories of Women in Leadership and Learning and Curriculum.

Did you know the AACOM Career Center offers professional services designed to help you build and manage your career? Some of the benefits you can access include professional development, coaching and resume writing.

Graduate Medical Education

On June 16, 2022, the AACOM Council on Residency Placement (CORP) Podcast & Resources Sub-Working Group hosted a webinar to help advise medical students on the steps to take to fill out the Electronic Residency Application Service® (ERAS) application. Read the key takeaways or watch the webinar.

Session proposals are being accepted for the ACGME/AOGME Osteopathic Recognition Full-Day Course until Monday, August 1, 2022. The target audience for this course includes directors of osteopathic medical education, designated institutional officials, program directors, osteopathic faculty members, designated osteopathic residents and coordinators.
