AACOM Press Releases

AACOM celebrated a record residency Match with the largest class of DO students to ever participate in the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP)'s Match Week. According to the NRMP, the percentage of matching DO seniors rose more than two percentage points from last year, to 91.3 percent.

AACOM applauds its member schools for their impressive performance in the 2023 U.S. News & World Report’s Best Medical Schools rankings. Colleges of osteopathic medicine (COMs) are ranked first and second in two categories and many other COMs saw their rankings increase this year.

Professional Development

If you want to move into a higher position of leadership in osteopathic medical education, consider applying to AACOM's Senior Leadership Development Program (SLDP). The SLDP takes place over a one-year period with a mix of in-person, virtual and on-demand learning sessions. This year's program offers three new tracks. Applications are due May 6.

AACOM's Osteopathic Health Policy Fellowship (OHPF) is a year-long training program designed for osteopathic physicians and other individuals with an established connection to the osteopathic profession to develop the skills they need to analyze, formulate and implement health policy on the local, state and national levels. Applications are due May 15.


AACOM is hosting the Choose DO Medical School Virtual Recruitment Expo on April 14, free for all prospective students and advisors to attend. Prospective students will meet with COMs nationwide to learn about becoming a physician.


AACOM is committed to ensuring that all osteopathic medical school graduates have access to residency training positions. We interviewed Dr. Dougherty, founding dean and chief academic officer of Noorda-COM, and Utah State House Representative A. Cory Maloy, who championed a bill to provide state funding to create new and expand existed medical residency programs in Utah.

Physician Wellness

In response to the acute challenges and staffing shortages of COVID-19, the National Academy of Medicine's Clinician Well-Being Collaborative assembled industry leaders, C-Suite members and frontline healthcare workers to unite and share perspectives on challenges and barriers, pinpoint solutions and discuss actionable strategies to mitigate burnout and strengthen the healthcare workforce.
